How it works

The same filter, a wider or narrower board

A tile-clue solver is a search filter: green fixes a letter and position, yellow requires the letter somewhere else, and gray excludes it unless a confirmed duplicate is still unaccounted for in that row. None of that logic changes with board width — only the candidate list does.

Use the length picker above the board to move between 4, 5, 6, and 7 letters at any time. Each length pulls from its own word list, generated the same way as the main five-letter list.

Quick answers

4-letter solver questions

How this board length works, and what stays the same as the standard solver.

Does this solver work for 4-letter word puzzles?+

Yes. Switch the board to 4 letters and it filters the same way as the five-letter version: green tiles lock a position, yellow tiles require the letter elsewhere, and gray tiles exclude it (unless a duplicate copy is still confirmed elsewhere in the row).

How is a 4-letter solver different from the standard 5-letter Wordle solver?+

The clue logic is identical. Only the board width and the underlying word list change: this variant filters our 1,860-word list of 4-letter English words instead of the ~3,400-word five-letter list.

Can I switch board length without losing my clues?+

Changing length resets the board, since a clue entered for one word length does not carry over to a different tile count. Use the length picker above the board before you start entering colors.

Are all 1,860 words possible answers in every 4-letter game?+

No. This is a broad English vocabulary list, useful for pattern matching and candidate filtering. It is not a claim about any specific game's official accepted-guess or daily-answer list, which can be narrower or use different rules.
